Little Black Things in Lyrics
«

Some of my tab sheets with lyrics have little black
ellipsoids sprinkled over letters and these ufos
have little embedded question marks.
I’m sure the answer is too simple for me to
think of but I just hope the answer doesn’t
derail my imagined good progress.

Hello, Cisco.
Please post a sample of the ellipses
with question marks inside. I don't
have a clue as to what the signs mean.
Best Regards

Maybe something like that.
Only second verse!
My Google search on apostrophe lists some children’s
song titles. 🤢. No real explanation ??

Cisco, these marks replace the g at the end of many words to indicate the slang pronunciation is different than the correct original word. Ex: good mornin’ or good morning. I’m grinnin’ or I’m grinning.

Only second verse!
The black diamond question marks are there because some fonts or computers can't recognize certain diacriticals, like apostrophes, and substitute those question marks in their place. They mean absolutely nothing in harmonica tablature. No clue why they're only in the second verse.

Good, no new harmonica concern.
I was inclined to think that the punctuation was for harp
because I never saw it outside of tab sites.
