I like this book, but it gets harder a bit too quickly after a nice progressive first few chapters. I am also at Bb blues, but cannot seem to crack it - I don't know what this is meant to sound like, and there is no recording on the CD. Also, most of the tunes he has written himself are unknown to me and have quite a complicated rhythm (I'm rubbish at rhythm), and most are not on the CD. Maybe it is challenging to learn unknown tunes, but am finding I give up as no idea what they are meant to sound like, or I need to find YouTube performances so I can 'get' the tune. Wish he had chosen better known tunes, and made the progression more linear, but I will still come back to it from time to time as there aren't any other good books out there it seems for chromatic.
You may find the BLOW series by Alberto Varaldo useful - imv it's well constructed and nicely laid out. All the melodies are both played and have separate backing tracks to play along with.
