I dunno, I talk to him on the phone every few months and I think he sounds  about the same. OIW, if I heard him singing for the first time, I'd think it's him.

Ha! As if I’m not in the room…hee hee!

Truth be told I was always a singer in nearly every band Ive toured with, and even made All-State choir in New York, (which was quite an honor!)

But the last 2 decades I got lazy, focusing on the chrome as my “voice”, which I continue to do.
When my wife first met me, I was a jazzy singer who would play chromatic just during solos. That slowly shifted to a chromatic guy who would occasionally sing. But those that knew me mostly as a singer have been pestering me for a while to get back to singing more. Naturally I’m rusty, but slowly regaining my somewhat limited chops. I consider myself a song “stylist”, heavily influenced by Nat Cole and Chet Baker. The general response has been awesome, thankfully, so expect more vocals down the pike.
As a side note my foray into the world of “Senior Communities” gigs kind of forced the vocal issue a bit. They love the jazz stuff I play (mostly with the DM48X) but after tossing in some vocals I’ve gotten even more work. In Los Angeles, Senior Community gigs pay better than clubs, and you’re only “allowed” to play an hour. And man, these people really dig the older jazz tunes I play, I’ve made some wonderful friends, and it is incredibly gratifying to hear a room full of people singing along with tunes like “Stardust”, sometimes with tears in their eyes.
I really appreciate the positive response from y’all, it actually means the world to me!
