Scotty due to the limitations of Zoom only one person plays at a time. Danny took the time and effort to edit the Zoom meeting that he posted. Thus he eliminated the comradery and conversations. There is plenty of that.
When you use the Gallery function everyone is able to see everyone. There is the feature where you can turn your microphone off as well as your camera and still participate by viewing. These SlideMeister Zoom Meetings last for two or more hours. Please join in, listen and speak if you like. Playing is optional.

Hi Scotty

Due to latency issues, it’s pretty much impossible for groups of folks to play together on Zoom. We typically just talk about techniques, instruments, and …life in general! During a typical session, each participant plays (only if they want to) a song. Some play solo. Some have backing tracks. We just go around in turn, and depending, each person may get two or three turns to play.

Yeah, yesterday, there were only four of us at the very beginning, (oh yeah, unlike the "unwise virgins parable," we don't lock the door if you don't show up exactly at four o-click

) so we got to talk about a lotta stuff that more or less wouldn't be possible here on the forum. It was pretty kewl.

With some regulars "on the road," or involved with family this week and other things, we had a, let's say, "intimate" meeting today with just four participants. But it was still great. Every time we've gotten together, we've always gained something, and yeah, I'm already looking forward to next week.

Really sorry I missed it! Thought about all of you as I drove through SC, NC, VA, WVa, and OH😱. Nine hours later we arrived in Alliance, checked in to the Hampton Inn, walked over to Grinders for dinner, discussed harmonica with grandson, and slept like a log for a full 8 hours! This is great info - and validates what I'd originally thought the zoom meetings would be about. I still don't know how to go about this- and the timing is all off with my animals (their schedule doesn't work). I will try one of these days, but first I'll have to figure out how to do it. What you've described is a typical SPAH play-along, together with the in-between chit-chat and camaraderie. That all works for me, if people have questions and comments. I just couldn't tell by the video since there was no description, so didn't know. I certainly appreciated the performances, though.

No, I knew it was 'one at a time', but not the closeups and into the camera kind of thing. I'd actively dislike seeing myself 'featured' thusly, frankly. I've explained before how this is still a problem technologically for me and this week we ran into some real issues.

Had our pool opened, only to find the liner had collapsed, with almost zero water left. Aargh. (only a muddy dark swamp at the bottom). Called our 'pool guy' who came to look, saw that the liner isn't salvageable and needs replacement. H'okay! An average of $3,500 - $4,000. We'll bite the bullet. Well, not so fast. No one (literally no one) has been IN the pool since that liner was installed - roughly 20 years ago. 'What'? cried the pool guy - 'that's impossible'! Nope. The dogs go down 2 steps to cool off their feet (on the hard white plastic steps) but that's it. No one has swum in the pool which we maintain and have cleaned, opened and closed and taken care of every Summer and closed up in the Fall with a Loop-Loc cover customized to fit. H'Okay. He brought samples - I finally found one I liked and Fred agreed with (we were poles apart at first). THEN came the costs since I thought the pool could be made less deep (who needs 8feet - no one here dives and it's more difficult to clean); that'll be 'this' much more to bring in dirt and sand...I thought they'd just move the sand around and add just a wee bit more, silly me. THEN all of the extra accoutrements - concrete steps poured in place since the originals aren't really deep enough for men with big feet (Fred, for example).

So now, today - 2 young men chopped away some of the old concrete surround to deepen and widen the steps. Several phone calls ensued since we decided at the last minute that covering said steps with the same pool liner would not work (pool guy's idea) because our dogs do like to stand on the first two steps to cool off their feet and legs, so could tear the liner there. Now we're discussing facing them with BlueStone. I also have someone else coming (the man who built our front and back stone patios and did all of the landscaping) to give an estimate to redo the entire pool surround since it's badly needed (and neglected). The original estimate (liner, work, gaskets, coping, etc. etc. etc.) $13,000! Now it'll be 'this' much more - I've no idea yet. There goes our put aside funds to work on the inside - again. Sigh.

Everything else - I mean every single little thing - has to be on hold (including our dogs now not being allowed outside so doing their 'toilette' in the laundry room today with my having to clean this up several times) will be our immediate future for who knows how long. Everything has to be worked around the dogs - and our limitations. I'd hoped for a nice relaxed, reading some good books while my dog became even more mellow over this Summer. Ha.

No pool here but sixty bucks a year covers all the amenities in beautiful Kiwanis Lake Community in the heart of Ohio's infamous "Snow Belt"

where we get Arctic winters🥶 and tropical summers.🥵 Heck, we even got a website

Like I may have mentioned: we have a nice lake 70 seconds from my house, (unless ya walk) with lotsa fish and a cute little beach and stuff.

We could drive a wee distance to some beaches - and further to some spectacular beaches (out in the Hamptons), but that would be a full day - and Fred's just never been a real 'beach' person. The pool was put in for me to do rehab and water exercises (with the big retroactive check I got from disability --after being denied for years). At the time I imagined I'd be in every day in the Summer. It started out that way but became more difficult - first with a (then) crazy neighbour who insisted her small children would be perfectly safe in MY pool without my insisted-upon adult supervision. Said she could see them from her window and 'be there in a flash'. Right. Of course, I ended up playing lifeguard/babysitter. I liked her two slightly older (5&6)yr olds, but the 3yr old toddler I drew a line with, especially since he was very spoiled and out of control, so she'd hand him off to the older children to 'take care of'. They couldn't of course. Once she'd brought him over, put him in a little floatie with ALL clothing removed so of course he had an 'accident' in the pool, thoroughly contaminating the water so we had to wait quite a while (with multiple cleaning/disinfections) to be able to reuse and even then it felt 'icky', lol.

My 'NO DIVING' signs and instructions were deliberately ignored by her husband (literally laughing at me as he taught his children to dive in off the SIDE into the deep end) so that ended their summer camp next door at my house. She held a grudge. Did many vicious things to 'pay us back'. T'other day when our other neighbours (disabled firefighter from 9-11) held a July 1 party, they expounded forth on all of the rotten things that same neighbour had done to them as well (shudder). We now have lovely people in the same house, thankfully, but the disruption and misery lasted a long while. We'd assumed we were alone in being attacked back then and that their kids and those of the firefighter were friends. Turns out they weren't but we never knew.

I'd never have done a pool normally - I like Ocean swimming, but this was specifically for me to water exercise and get back to 'normal' post spinal surgery. Now, we want to make it work for that purpose for both of us (and our newer neighbours - no kids). Plus, it gives me all the privacy I want and need since our shrubs and trees are also now like a tropical garden and block any views into our property. It sorely needed updating anyway - so the collapsed liner has forced us into this. We had to do 'something'. It's just bad timing (isn't it always?)

Your lake sounds lovely. Now that seems like a place you could play your chromatic by the shore?

Yeah, neighbors can really be wierd, and every neighborhood seems to have at least one that has had a "falling out" with everyone on the street. I think God musta put'em here on purpose for us to "practice" on.

Hmm!🤔 Never thought of that, and I prolly oughtta start swimming again. Dr. sez it makes for great cardio, while being easier on the joints than any other exercise.

I'm starting to have withdrawal issues!

The Party at DannyG's was so much fun, but the drive up to Ohio meant that I missed the Zoom last week. Unfortunately, I'm also going to miss the session tomorrow and the one the following week.

My wife and I host our five kids, spouses, and eight grandkids at a beach house that we rent for a week each summer. It's like Christmas in July for all of us, and everyone makes a huge effort to keep the week clear. This year, there will be 18 of us in the house! Talking about close family!!

Anyway, I'll be driving to the coast tomorrow to prep for everyone joining us on Saturday, so I'll miss out on the fun. The following week, I'll be in the midst of shepherding our clan to a local dive for seafood dinner, so ... one more chance missed.

Summer is busy family time for the Marks clan, but DON'T GIVE UP ON ME! I'm still VERY interested in keeping up with all of you Zoomers, and I'll get back in the mix ASAP! Meanwhile, I'll keep practicing and hoping to improve. Please post the "notes" from the sessions on this page as you can.

Yeah I got there about 3:45'ish and was surprised to see all the faces already yucking it up.

I think I might be sticking with the setup I used today cuz it seemed to pretty smooth.

That was my little Soundcraft 8FX (with USB) and an sE X1a condenser mikroffany. Prolly the most "straight forward" system I've tried so far and let's me think more about the meeting and music than the "buttons, faders and stuff."

I'm still working on the monitoring part, but I just may stick with that system for now. (I guess I'm just gettin' tired of fartin' around with wires and stuff)
