Last year I flipped the slide on my 270 in G and have enjoyed it a lot. Since then I also flipped slides on other keys and enjoy playing them more than the factory normalized keys. Pressing the button takes the notes down, which suites my thinking patterns, just like bending takes the notes down. I’m liking my valveless chromes more and more.

OK. I'm "pushing 80". (Well, pushing 77 but ... close enough.) In the last five years, I've kinda learned where the notes are on a solo tuned instrument. So, I'm proving to myself that an old dog can learn a few new tricks. Sit. Roll over. Shake.

But, things like "non-standard" tunings, flipping slides ... I dunno 'bout that. It's kinda like teaching an old dog to do long division.

Think I'll just stick to solo tuning and work really hard to figure how to play in a handful of keys, and just be satisfied with what I've accomplished.

Looking back (waaaaay back to when I was like 10 or 12

) I thinque I mightta gone with diminished or auggie tuning, but not after playing for over two years. I too have gotten standard tuning to work for me and, especially with my ADHD, there's no way I'd consider changing (and I'm actually in the third month of my eightieth year

)

Did a little presentation / orientation / Chromatic aptitude thingy after church Sunday, and invited a couple of "embryos" to join us this Thursday to see what we do there. Hopefully we'll have a couple extra flies on the wall.

Yeah, I made it, but was like a half hour late. Good to see Tommy Stryker again, eh?

Went to my Dermo and got my yearly skin cancer check, PLUS I had a whole buncha those (about twenty) "old fart farkles" burnt off my face and noggin, so by tomorrow I'll prolly look like a burnt leopard or somethin' from "the walking dead" or worse.

Doc sez not to go around small children for a week or so, cuz I'll scare them so bad they'll prolly wet their pants. Actually that might be a lotta fun! Bwoaahahah!
