You're about thirteen minutes away from the party. Barbara and I just got home. We  rode down there on the bike, spent a couple hours jackin' around and took off for home about five-thirty. Round trip was exactly 95.2 miles. Things (like playing and stuff) are going on right now if you wanna drive up and check it out. It won't be a wasted trip.  Barbara and I will be back tomorrow. Glad ya made it. :)

Had the camera set up with a 64G memory card and running all day. Unfortunately when I downloaded it there are only a couple of the competitors playing. Fortunately the main act and some of the ongoing patio jam recorded.

What a party!  Twas great visiting with old friends, making new ones, talking with lots of folks I didn’t know, eating more than I shoulda, playing several tunes with great down-home musicians, enjoying lots of really interesting and great musicians, did I mention eating a lot of good smoked and grilled meats, interacting on the back yard shootin range, best weather ever at his parties with a very chilling front ending a hot performance by Barath/ Sutton, retrieving my long lost fedora, etc, etc.

Thanks Danny, Linette, Bruce, all the food preparers, KC for the 364 C and many friends and musicians who made a wonderful party!

I don't even know where to start!

I drove from Columbia, SC to Alliance, OH last Thursday.  Drove up by myself, so had time to listen to a book on tape on the way up.  It was about 9 hours of driving.  Got to the Hampton Inn in Alliance around 7:30PM, and was beat.

Next morning, (Friday), I set Danny's place in my GPS and had no problem finding the place marked with a big "Minion" at the mailbox!
I met Danny for the first time in person, and he graciously gave me a tour of the whole place ... including Linette's greenhouse!  What a setup he has!
Then, I sheepishly began to walk around and introduce myself to others.  Soon after I arrived, the jamming around the kitchen porch area started.  I soon realized two things:
1.  Everyone I met was friendly, interesting, and welcoming!
2.  A LOT of them play diatonics!  (Sorry AJ.  Had to mention that!)

Before long, I was joining in on the jams.  Lockjaw Larry, the Preacher, AJ the younger, AJ the elder, "young" AJ's grandparents, Jeff, Harmonica Bruce, Annie (or was it Anna?), Tony and Phil Psardo, and so many more!  I couldn't believe I could hang with these talented folks and feel like I "belonged"!  So much fun!  And I haven't mentioned the food!  Always good, and always available!  I stayed on Friday until around 10PM, and then found my way back to the motel.

Saturday morning I woke, showered, and had breakfast.  Was returning from my car when I saw Tony Psardo walking across the parking lot with his guitar.  He told me he and Phil were going to play in the motel for about an hour and a half before heading back out to Danny's, and he invited me to join them.  I did!  We played for over an hour to very appreciative audiences that varied in size from time to time.  Mostly, we just had a great time playing and getting to know each other.  Eventually, we packed up and headed back to Danny's for another day of fun.  More jamming, the Ohio State Harmonica Contest, being entertained by really good musicians, and getting to know such wonderful people!  Met and chatted a bit with Dr. George Miklas.  Even got a private audience of Harmonica Bruce's "somewhat non-PC" song ... which I loved!
And ... have I mentioned the food?!!  We even managed to bag a couple of beer cans with pellet guns and BB's!

I had the best time!  I can't begin to thank Danny, Bruce, Linette (and all the family!) for the wonderful hospitality and for the fun.  If I wasn't hooked on this wonderful instrument before, I sure am now!  How else would I meet such wonderful and gracious people?!  Finally getting to actually meet AJ, Danny, and all the rest was something I had been looking forward to.  Doing that, and also getting to know so many more great folks was such a perk!  Thanks so much Danny.  I'm thinking my grandson and I might make this trek again!  When it was finally time to leave on Saturday night, I drove back to Alliance basking in the good time I'd had.

I got up on Sunday morning, had another long chat with Tony and Phil Psardo, then we said our goodbyes ... vowing that we'd see each other again.  I drove over to Canton and went through the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  How could I be right there and not see it?  It was well worth the time.  Then, I started the drive back to SC in earnest.  I'll have to say, the return drive was a real bear!  Rain, idiots on the road, bypassing two accidents that took me to places unknown.  But ... I was home around 7:30 last night with a bucket full of wonderful memories.

What a weekend!

Sorry about my incorrect spelling of Phil and Tony’s last name!😱.
Should simply be Sardo.  Must have gotten the “P” off Phil’s website.

That was a really nice write-up. Reminds me of the synopses I used to do for my trips to SPAH (which I'm sure you'd also
thoroughly enjoy). The Sardo Brothers --where to begin? THEY are the ones who finally got me into playing in the Lobby jams
by not simply letting me sit around and listen, but insisting that I join in and play along with them --which I've done for several
years - and which led me to meeting a whole slew of Phil's family when he introduced his brand new GoldBar at SPAH, finally
getting my own (in A)- and just this week, receiving my 'certificate of authenticity' which had been inadvertently left out of the box, signed by Phil and made out with my name - in Gold, of course. :) I LOVE the instrument, btw.   I'm glad someone else got to experience the absolute joy of playing with these two guys whom I adore.

Yeah, Phil's a real gentlemen, and Tony's a lotta fun with his guitar and jokes. Every time I made "the full circle" and passed by the back patio, I just had to yank my Chrombo out and play a few, along with the half-dozen or so that were there.

Oh, how sweet, Larry~thank you so much! It's a relief to see them both looking so well. Does everyone know both of these
brothers (of - I think 11 or 13 siblings) are into their 80's? I want to look that good when I reach their respective years, for
sure.  Just two marvelous people - and their wives are absolutely wonderful and beautiful women who went out of their way
to be extra kind and nice to me at SPAH...kept coming over to me when I played in their 'circle' to tell me they could hear me
doing just as well as and keeping up with the 'big boys' players. My vernacular for those who were playing with Tony Sgro,
who'd joined in - and which was thrilling.
