If you attend the Long Island Zoom you'll get pointers on how to set the sound settings for playing harmonica.
Otherwise with the standard Zoom set up when you play high pitched notes, nobody will hear you.
Starts in just less than an hour.

I've got the Jason Ricci thing I'm going to tomorrow evening so how about let's schedule one for next Thursday at 4PM.
I'll plan on staying online for a few hours to see if there is any time period where we get the largest crowd. Then we can adjust or decide what's going to work the best for us.

We had a good crowd at the Long Island Zoom like 12 people showed up. Everyone took turns playing songs. Then Mike Caldwell played "Come to the Cabaret" on his new Caberet. He's really quite a talent. Don't know if he'll be back next week but I know he'll be back. The meeting lasted over 2 hours so everyone got to play 3 songs.

I think you might want to differentiate between the two separate Zoom meetings, perhaps - so people don't get mixed up? This thread was originally for the Long Island Harmonica Club meetings - which are held every Wednesday - and to that end here's

Yeah, good point! One is "Long Island" on Wednesdays at 7PM EST, and the other is "SlideMeister" on Thursdays at 4PM EST.

I can't make Jimmy's too easy cuz of a scheduling conflict I have with Wednesday nights. They have more diatonic stuff but they're a whole lotta fun too.

Kinda like having a bunch of harmonica players in your living room. Way Kewl!

I know what you mean, and I wanted to ask if John Savas was still playing? He might have been the impetus behind
the club's start in the first place. John Devine (himself a diatonic player) got the club off the ground again when he
welcomed diatonic players in - but then began playing chromatic himself! That was fun. John's a really good guy (and
a veteran). When we'd go to the parties/dinners, they'd have a nice mix of both types of players - so it was all good, and everyone was always so nice.
Ken Korb and Lora (on her violin) would do a LOT of the entertaining and backing up of other players and hosted the
summer parties. I haven't been in a while - probably since Covid, but I'm hoping that at some point they or someone
else starts those up again. I actually felt comfortable enough to go up to play (they set up an actual stage) but usually
at the end of the night when it was getting dark and a lot of the people had left, lolol. Still, it was the most relaxed I've
ever been onstage playing - and someone else would usually join me - making it even more fun.

why not? He sends it to everyone on his list (club members and whomever else is on his mailing list, I assume?) listing the player, the song, the key. Probably only those who're willing to share the info? Might help prompt others to learn those songs or spark an idea? Of course I'd love to see videos as well - at least until I can figure out zoom and my devices and figure out when/where to
get on. 'One of these months', lol. My wifi tends to drop in the afternoon - a LOT, knocking me offline right in the middle of ANYTHING I'm doing. I suspect it's something to do with the HSchool next door - and their new and improved huge computer wing (which we all happily paid for). Might be regretting that vote and decision, lol.

As far as your joining us, that would be waaay kewl!

As far as your WI-FI goeth, FIRST, try using a notebook or desktop with a "wire" instead of even trying to use wi-fi and a cell phone. (that has a way of being less problematic) After that you can maybe fall back and see how the cell phone route goes.

Scotty...please don't be afraid of the zoom meetings. Please join in. There have been a few discussions on how to set-up & join our SlideMeister meetings & I can say they are very informative & helpful. After listening to 2 of the SlideMeister zoom meetings, I will say that the players here have "blown my socks off". I would love for you to do the same in an upcoming meeting.

thanks, Mike - I simply can't figure it out with my desktop - and when Age mentioned not using a phone, I wasn't. I was ON
my desktop trying to get on - and it still didn't work. I am actually piggybacking off my husband's computer
connection upstairs via a router, which I imagine is part of the problem since he also doesn't know what he's doing with
desktop computers (despite working in IT for many years --but there he worked on mainframes). Still, I find that

I can't connect with him when he's upstairs on his computer - other than traipsing to the door and yelling - but since his
hearing seems to be declining lately, that's also been an exercise in futility.

My computer has had issues with Windows doing these unwanted updates (Ed went through this most recently) and I
specifically did NOT sign up for the newest update which is awful.

Anyway - I know many of the players here and have actually played with them at SPAH and other conventions so that's not
the issue. It's trying to figure out how to do this technologically, and then plug in a microphone. I have one - somewhere around
still unused.

Having to deal with my dog Luka (the newest one) who HATES harmonica playing and howls like a mad thing when I play, ergo my wanting to try to use my Ipad or newer iphone which still isn't set up (!) to go up on our wee balcony as the weather improves, hoping that'd work better. However, I've had a LOT on my plate with my sister-in-law's recent death as well as a very good friend's heart surgery; she's had further problems which are ongoing - so time for 'fun' hasn't been in the cards.

'One of these days' I'll figure it out. As long as it keeps going, I might get there and manage to check in with the rest of you.
