Linette took the day off and we went to the Cedar Valley Settlers Celebration & Music Festival. We expected to see allot more of our harmonica friends but we only recognized these few familiar faces. Nancy and Bob Jackson, Don Blair, Billy D Simon and Bill Shillings

Bill Shillings organized the event and did a terrific job leading (unofficial count) 1,886 harmonica players into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest Harmonica Play-Along.

I don't know how many people actually knew how to play before they signed up and got their free harmonica but after Bill gave them a demonstration and a very innovative lesson, they played.

Yeah, the youngest criminal ever in North Olmsted, Ohio. I was 3 years old. Explanation: I was pre-harmonica.

Yeah, I got there after being somewhat delayed. (yeah right) I had a church service, then lunch with the preacher and a meeting with another; needless to say I was sorta late  but heared there were either 1788 or 1888 "players there playing "Frarah-Jocka."  Too bad too, cuz from the croud and other music I heard by the time I got there, it looked it was a  hoot!

Hello, Guiness Record Book Inductees.
This is to congratulate Bill Schilling, organizer; the Buckeye State Harmonica Club, the Rubber Capitol Harmonica Club; and a total 1,882 harmonica players who are entered in the Guiness Book of World Records as "The Largest Harmonica Play-Along." The event was performed on September 23rd at the Rocky River Reservation, sponsored by the Cleveland Metro Parks system. The performers played the tune, Frere Jaques.

Also congrats to Gabe Fedor, another inductee in the Guiness Book in 2005(?), in a motorcycle category.

I was a Guiness inductee on April 17th, 1982, in Glendale, Wisconsin. I performed in
"The World's Largest Orchestra," with 6,229 other musicians, shattering the old record of 987 people, which had lasted for 110 years.

The orchestra event was sponsored by the Milller Brewery. We had so may people performing, that the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's conductor was placed in a balloon, above the mass orchestra, so that he could be seen by all performers. We played the tune, "Stars & Stripes Forever," by John Phillip Sousa.

Billy D Simon reminded Bill Shilling to make sure everyone removed their harmonicas from the plastic bags they came in before playing them. It was pretty neat standing on the stage and looking out at 1,800 people. I can't wait until my party gets bigger.
