Help With Buzz/Rattle

(1/3) > >>

brorat:
My Sirius 56 (C Maj) has an issue on the #5 hole, blow.  I've cleaned the instrument carefully.  I've cleaned the windsavers, too.  I've "plinked" each reed to make sure nothing foreign is stuck in the reed slot.  Still, on that note, as the note trails off, I have a sort of buzzing/rattle sound.  I'm attaching a short clip of what it sounds like.

If someone recognizes this sound and can tell me how to fix it, I would appreciate the advice very much.

Grizzly:
The rattle is coming from the wind saver. It closes too fast, and is hitting the reed has it finishes vibrating. Have a spare wind saver handy; try clipping of a tine amount from the top layer. I that doesn't work, replace the wind saver.

Thanks Tom. Kinda thought that, but wasn’t sure. I do have a spare windsaver, so no harm done in trimming the existing to see results. I’ll wait to gain consensus. 😱😱

Good idea!

I heard the same thing, but I am a newbee!!!
I was going to suggest having someone video the offending reed if possible with the covers off (cell phones work great for this), then play it back in slow motion to see what is happening. This is something we use in troubleshooting our machines when the problems are difficult to locate.
