I dropped mine and the case broke at the spring retaining slots. I am looking for a used one.

Looks a little like the ones I designed years ago but never built. :P  Mine looked like little metal (aluminum) clips  (that would look like they were stamped out of beer can material) and would be snapped on then glued, and would leave virtually the same amount of wiggle-room and still sustain the occasional drop to the floor. I had all kinds of ideas that I was gunna talk my late brother Jimmy (the inventor/machinist) into making for me. :’(  Still miss that guy every day :’(

If you still have the parts, you can cement them together with ABS cement. Available at a hardware or plumbing supply store. I've done it a few times, and the bond is permanent. Cheapest way to go. A 4 ounce can is enough for several fixes, but will probably harden in the can before you use it up. Less than $10US, IIRC.

Every time I buy a can, I use it once, and then it’s spoiled by the next time.

Still cheap compared to alternatives. There is a solvent for it which may restore its usefulness, but I don"t remember what it is. :-[

Tom are you thinking acetone or lacquer thinner?  Both are nasty solvents emitting dangerous fumes.

After a search, probably acetone. but it should gas off. I'd put a little in the can, close it, shake it, and see if it liquified the dried-out cement. The can's label may have directions.
