Apple's Ventura 🤮
« on: May 05, 2025, 04:52:30 PM »
Got this gorgeous 2017 iMac i7 27" Retna last spring. Pretty nice actually, but I was horrified to find that with the Monterey OS, I couldn't run Garageband with it. The internat sed I hafta have Ventura to do that. So, after a year of trying to find a work-around, I reluctantly (cuz they say "going back in next to impossible unless you wanna loose all your stuff") I bit the bullet and upgraded to  Ventura. Then I immediately tried to download Garagebang and sure enough, after all I read, that it would work in Ventura, it won't. Mad enough to chew nails! Besides that colossal letdown, this thing hangs up and runs about as fast as my first XT.🤬

Don't know what Apple is doing with Garagebang, (and their operating systems FTM) but whatever it is, it just might be chasing me back to PC.  Harrumph!

Bottom line, AFAIC, Ventura sux sox!

I have a Mac Mini M4 that I purchased a couple of months ago. It hasn't upgraded to Ventura at this point.

Thank you for the heads up.

Apple seems to be going sideways as bad as Disney. ::)
I wish I was interested in computers enough to learn how to use Linux.
Right now, (not counting Linux) I don't like nothin' or nobody! >:(

Unfortunately, Apple is going the way of Microsoft, hear of the TBM module yet? Future versions of Win 11 is going to obsolete and brick a lot of pre 2017 or so computers. :(

I have been with Linux since the mid 90s. It is well worth the effort!

PS. Even very old computers can be re-empowered by Linux.

Yeah, that's what makes it so hard for me to get rid on my old 2007 iMac. (or the 2010, or the 2014 ;D)
