I’ve sung in choirs, quartets, and groups all my life. As someone who is blessed with a decent ear, I have little problem staying on pitch. I’ve stood beside folks in choirs who were not just a bit flat or sharp, but TOTALLY on the wrong notes. I’ve thought to myself that it takes a special talent to sing a whole song totally off key. No wonder “Darlene” has such a hard time doing it!😱

For at least one professional singer, singing off-key on purpose is really hard. So said the actress in "Souvenir," the play about Florence Foster Jenkins. The play finishes with her singing "Ave Maria" perfectly, the way Jenkins heard it in her own ear. I teared up when I heard her.
