I just played along with this one (it's in D# or should I say Eb?) -- by ear, of course.

Is that good for someone who's been playing for 3 years and 7 months? (I'm not bragging -- I really want to know if I'm progressing at a decent pace.)

I'll say Barry  , you must have great ears, that opening  Bb  D  Bb  C .. repeat  is quite awkward to find .

Other than the "tapdance" versions (which is what I immediately think of when I think of this song), I think this rendition is my favorite! Chris and the boys are superb, as I wrote in the Comments following the clip.

The one I like - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WcASyXqZfA

I've just about got the tune, need to practice this version. I have a drink with a drummer on occasion. My Idea is to get him to tap out the rhythm on a couple of beer pots. Otherwise I don't think it will work in cha cha cha, well not in the club with the lads.  ;D

If you would like to hear a spine-chilling rendition of "Tea For Two", watch and listen to this. It is Peter Bernstein and Brad Meldau in Germany. It is in two parts. Peter Bernstein wrote the riff. I could be wrong but I think it's in 6/8 time. Meldau sits there playing his solo like he's at his desk in an office, as cool as you please.
 Absolutely gives me the chills!
Here is the first part. (In the second part Bernstein takes his solo - better than Meldau - and that's saying something!)

Enjoy some top-drawer jazz! Let me know what you think.

Forgot to tell you its title. Bernstein calls it "Jive Coffee". I don't know why, but work like this gives me hope! It makes me realize what a small leap it is to the beauty and creativity that's available to us.

I don't know why you say that, Henry. I bet you're a terrific player!
I wasn't suggesting that any of us try to learn it, only that we harmonica players can benefit from listening to it and analyzing it. It also gives us a chance to hear what can be done with well-known standards. Exciting to say the least.

Best, as always,

After two weeks my 'Tea for Two' in "C" has improved greatly ;), stumbled around the circle & have returned to my old copy of the real book vol 3. and 'Tea for Two' is in Ab. First 4 or 8 bars Fourths & fifths around the circle, of course 16 bars of 'Tea for Two' has a key change up a M3rd. Now I'm over my head!

Anyway, Henry Tabbed it for me in "C" and again I thank him. "C" is the M3rd of Ab. In "C" it starts easy, shifts up M3rd to "E", not so easy. Ab is easier than "E" I think and shifts to "C"! What seemed hard is now starting to make sense!

Yes Gary, :o That's what my old real book says...and I appreciate your astute observation. "Ab" it is! ;D The ultimate objective, for me, was to get around the circle...to start the 12-key library so to speak. Henry chose "C" and now "Ab"seems easy! ;)
