I'll miss joining in for the next two Thursdays. Janet and I will be taking a long-awaited trip to France. (We had this planed three years ago, but ... COVID!) We arrive in Paris this coming Thursday. Will spend a week cruising on the Seine from Paris to Rouen in Normandy. We'll make stops along the way but I'm really looking forward to the WWII cemeteries/museums/beaches from D-Day Invasion. We'll then cruise back to Paris with other stops, and finally, we'll visit the Palace of Versailles prior to our flight home. We'll get back late on the following Thursday. Play well, and have great sessions! See you later!

Happy Weekend, Fellow SlideMeister Zoomers!

Janet and I are happy to report that we returned to our home just after midnight last night. Our trip to France and the Normandy region was AWESOME! For the last few days while we were there, we both felt a little "off", but like troopers, we pushed on ... not wanting to miss any opportunity that was offered. Then came the flight(s) to get home. Paris to Philadelphia; Philly to Charlotte; Charlotte to Columbia. So much scrutiny. So much security. I hadn't dressed and undressed as much since my honeymoon

And, all this while feeling really awful. When we finally got to Columbia, we soon found that our bags weren't as lucky as we were. They didn't arrive until late today.

Then, once we got up this morning, I was feeling much better. Still a bit congested and achy, but much better. Just for the heck of it, Janet and I both did a self-administered Covid test. Yep! Both positive! After talking to our docs, we were told to "rest, take plenty of fluids, and OTC cold meds". Both of us are now past the incubation period, so we're no longer "contagious". Second round of the virus for me, and each has felt like mild flu or a pretty bad cold. But ... it sure made 15 hours of airports and planes miserable!

All in all, the trip was great. But in the end (as Dorothy says), "There's no place like home...!"

I never got to post the report on the Zoom meeting. Busy day today! The meeting went about three hours. Don't know for sure about how many we had but I think it was about fifteen-ish? I'll try to do the report before tomorrow (Saturday) night along with "who played what."

. Danny's going to Georgia, and I have too much going on this week to have time to learn how to run the thing myself, but by next Thursday, I should have it figured out in case Danny hasta leave again. So take the extra week to polish up whatever you were going to play and have it ready to blow our socks off next Thursday, okay?

Sandy and I visited Helen, Georgia for a few days celebrating our 57th anniversary last December. It is a beautiful quaint German themed town in the Georgia mountains. The food there is outstanding, including the Hofbrau House offerings. Regretfully we cannot go there at this time no matter how much we had looked forward to the occasion.

Yep. Picked one up for 100 bucks off retail. Used and referbs are going for more than that.
Complicated and a pretty good learning curve, but it seems to do what it's sposta do. It's definitely going to be a process, but yes, it IS a very impressive little mic.

Yeah, hooked it up (pretty much) on my old Mac (which is actually a tad too old, according to the recommendations) but so far, I'm fairly impressed. Looks like this thing, (a lotta study) a set of headphones and something like Audacity is probably all you need to do some professional sounding stuff.

I like the U-86 and 7, the RE-20, and a few other models, and the EQ's, compressors and effects will keep me "learning" for the rest of my life.

Update on the mic.
Nope! It doesn't like High Sierra OS. The mic and software "tolerates" it but doesn't like it at all. After listening to the playback on yesterday's ZOOM meeting, I see what some of the shortcomings are. Looks like the mic's modeling feature works on the "monitoring" side but not on the output without a reboot of the system. I may hafta move my newer (2013) Mac to the studio and use that old one up here in the office and some other stuff. A whole lot to learn yet, but I still think it's kinda cool.
